How can we accurately identify India’s progress on the Millennium Development Goals?
With the approaching achievement of Millennium Development Goals day, Athena completed a briefing to assess India’s progress. It focused on goals 2, 3, 4 and 5 over the last 14 years. This includes universal primary education, promotion of gender equality and women’s empowerment, reduction of child mortality and improving maternal health. It presented a briefing report using simple coded visuals, highlighting within country inequalities and predicting achievements of each goal. It also looked at relevant issues which affect the pace of progress and the financial aspect (resource allocation). Additionally, it assessed the post-2015 development agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and presented recommendations for key stakeholders.
